DAYTON, Tenn. – Kasey Young (JR/Danville, Ky.) led the Bulldogs with 16 points and five rebounds along with Maci Spence (SR/Mt. Sterling, Ky. ) registering a 12 points, six rebounds and four assists, but Union College fell to host Bryan (Tenn.) 87-80 in Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) play on Wednesday night.

After the first quarter, it was a neck and neck game between the Bulldogs and the Lions. Union kept Bryan on their feet the entire first half keeping the score tied for most of the first quarter. Brianna Adler (FR/Burlington, Ky.) led the Bulldogs into the second quarter after making a 3-point basket, tying the game 25-25.

The second quarter would begin the same as the first. It was a close match up until the 1:13 mark when Bryan's Tristan McClellan would counter Adler's 3-point basket to take the lead over Union. After another made field goal made by McClellan, she clinched the lead for her team to finish off the first half of play.

Bryan led going into the third quarter 44-38 and pushed the margin to nine before Union rallied to take a two-point lead going into the fourth. Cheyanne Stidham (SO/Whitesburg, Ky.) sank a 3-pointer to but Union up 60-56 with under a minute left in the third, but a Kaylee Smith bucket pulled Bryan within 60-58 going into the fourth.

Tied at 65-all midway through the fourth, Bryan went on a 9-1 run to open up a 74-66 advantage with 3:34 left. The Bulldogs got the deficit down to four but could not regain the lead as the Lions led on for the 87-80 win.

The loss brings Union's record to 13-7 overall and 7-6 in conference play.

Amber Levi led Bryan with 23 points and five rebounds.

Adler and Prater would both dish out 12 points and three rebounds for Union, while Stidham also added 12 points.

Bryan closed out the game outrebounding the Bulldogs 40-26.

Union returns to action on Saturday as the team travels to another AAC foe Point (Ga.). Tipoff is set for 4 p.m.
