BARBOURVILLE, Ky. – Union College senior Maci Spence (SR/Mt. Sterling, Ky. ) is the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Women's Basketball Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.

The 6-foot-2 forward averaged 22.5 points and 8.5 rebounds per game as Union went 2-0 last week. The Bulldogs recorded a pair of 33-point, AAC victories in defeating Truett McConnell (Ga.) 97-64 and Columbia (S.C.) 93-60.

Spence was near perfect in the field, going 17-for-20 in posting an 85 shooting percentage. She was 7-for-9 against Truett McConnell in recording 16 points to go with her 11 rebounds. Versus Columbia, Spence shot 10-of-11 from the floor in netting 29 points.

On the week, Spence amassed five assists, three blocks and one steal. The double-double against Truett McConnell was her ninth of the year, tying her for the conference lead.

Spence leads the AAC in scoring with an 18.8 points-per-game average. She also averages 8.4 rebounds per game to go along with 23 blocks, 23 assists and 15 steals on the season. Spence ranks in the top 50 nationally in eight statistical categories including fourth in field-goal percentage (62.1 percent), 11th in total points (357), and 13th in points per game.

The Bulldogs are 13-6 overall and 7-5 in the AAC. Union returns to action Wednesday when it visits Bryan (Tenn.) for a conference showdown. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m.
