BARBOURVILLE, Ky. – The Union College women's basketball team dropped its second Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) game of the season as the Bulldogs came up short against No. 23 Milligan (Tenn.) 84-75.

With the loss, Union falls to 10-3 overall and 5-2 in AAC play. The Buffaloes improve to 9-4 overall and 6-1 in the AAC.

Union knew they would need to stay diligent in order to remain sitting on top of the conference standings. But Milligan came into Robison Arena and had different thoughts as now the Buffaloes hold the No. 1 spot in the AAC.

The Buffaloes started off the night shooting hot as the team outscored the Bulldogs 24-16 while going 50 percent (10-for-20) from the field. In the second quarter, it was more offense from Milligan as the Buffaloes extended their lead out 45-30. However, after Union's Aaliyah Lumson (JR/Mayfield, Ky.) was fouled while making a 2-point basket she capped off the 3-point play with a successful free throw. Lumson also nailed another basket with time winding down to cut Milligan's lead down to 45-35 at the break.

In the third quarter, the Bulldogs came out of halftime with vengeance and cut down the Buffaloes' lead one basket at a time. After a made free throw from Union's Katrina Johnson (FR/Pineville, Ky.), Milligan's lead was cut down to just two points at 57-55 with 2:44 left to go till the final quarter.

Despite the valiant effort, Union couldn't find the answer down the stretch against the Buffaloes. A huge difference came from the boards, as Milligan was able to outrebound Union 51-27. The Buffaloes were able to fend off the fighting Bulldogs to hold own to an 84-75 conference win.

Maci Spence (SR/Mt. Sterling, Ky. ) paced Union with 22 points going 9-for-18 from the field and Brianna Adler (FR/Burlington, Ky.) ended the night with 17 points netting an impressive 4-of-5 from beyond the arc. Lumson also had a strong displaying finishing with nine points while Johnson and Nannilena White (JR/Frankfort, Ky.) grabbed down six boards a piece.

Milligan had four players finish with double-digits while the team collected a 47.8 percent from the field for the game.
