BARBOURVILLE, Ky. –Union College's Maci Spence (SR/Mt. Sterling, Ky. ) was named the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Women's Basketball Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday.

This marks the first conference award for the Bulldogs this season along with the first for Spence

On the week, Spence averaged a double-double posting 16.7 points and 10.3 rebounds to help Union record a 2-1 week. She also registered a pair of double-double games to add to resume, one coming with 20 points and 10 rebounds against Montreat and the next she nabbed 18 points and grabbed 14 boards against Rio Grande (Ohio).

Spence, the Mt. Sterling, Ky. native, leads the team in several categories which includes scoring (19.2 points per game), field-goal percentage (61.6 percent) and rebounds (83). She ranks in the top 10 in NAIA in field-goal percentage (seventh), total points (eighth) and rebounds (ninth).

Union currently is 8-1 overall and 3-0 in the AAC on the season and returns to AAC play this Wednesday, as the team travels to Truett-McConnell (Ga.). Tipoff is set for 5:30 pm.
