ASHEVILLE, N.C. - The 2016 Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Volleyball Tournament is set to begin Thursday, and Union College is the No. 1 seed.

The three-day event is being held at the MeadowView Marriott Conference Resort & Convention Center in Kingsport, Tenn.

Union won the regular-season championship with a 20-2 conference record. This is Union's fourth regular-season title in program history and first since 2011. By virtue of winning the regular-season title, Union receives an anutomatic berth to the NAIA National Championship Opening Round, which will be played on Nov. 19.

The Bulldogs (29-9 overall) are looking to capture their third AAC Tournament title in a row and fifth over all. No team has won three tournament titles in a row since former member King (Tenn.) won eight in a row from 2001-08.

The tournament format is an eight-team, single-elimination format. Here are the tournament seedings and schedule:

  1. Union (20-2 AAC, 29-9 overall)
  2. Milligan (19-3 AAC, 30-7 overall)
  3. St. Andrews (15-7 AAC, 20-13 overall)
  4. Bryan (13-9 AAC, 18-18 overall)
  5. Tennessee Wesleyan (12-10 AAC, 15-18 overall)
  6. Montreat (12-10 AAC 14-18 overall)
  7. Bluefield (10-12 AAC, 21-18 overall)
  8. Reinhardt (9-13 AAC, 9-19 overall)

Thursday, November 10
Game 1 - No. 1 Union (29-9) vs. No. 8 Reinhardt (9-19), 12 pm
Game 2 - No. 2 Milligan (30-7) vs. No. 7 Bluefield (21-18), 2:15 pm
Game 3 - No. 3 St. Andrews (20-13) vs. No. 6 Montreat (14-18), 4:30 pm
