BARBOURVILLE, Ky. – Union College freshman Derek Burgett (FR/Somerset, Ky. ) is the Mid-South Conference (MSC) East Special Teams Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.

"Derek has been everything that we had hoped he would be, - both as a player and a person," said Union head coach Zak Willis. "We are very proud of his performance on Saturday."

Burgett made both of his PAT attempts and connected on a 26-yard field goal in the 53-17 loss at No. 7 Lindsey Wilson College (Ky.) on Saturday. He also averaged 58.8 yards per kickoff with one touchback.

On the season, the Somerset, Ky., native is 3-for-3 on field goals with a long of 29 yards and is 23-of-24 on PATs. Burgett is second on the team in scoring with 32 points and is averaging 54.4 yards per kickoff.

This is the fifth time this season a Bulldog earned MSC East Player of the Week honors.

Union is 3-2 overall and 2-0 in the MSC East. Up next for the Bulldogs are the Wildcats of Bethel (Tenn.). Union and Bethel will tangle on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at Williamson Stadium.
