BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Union College women's bowling team finished 11th at the Southern Kentucky Collegiate Classic over the weekend. Meanwhile, the Union men's team placed 12th in the event. 

"We did really well considering it was our second tournament of the season," said head coach Brandy Hensley. "The men's team is very young this year, but they are proving that they can keep themselves in the competition against some very tough teams."

The Bulldog women's team knocked down a total of 5,947 pins while the men knocked down 6,310 pins in the two-day event.

"The women's team is also proving that they can be competitive in our conference by posting two solid finishes to start off the season," Hensley said.

Pacing the way for the women's team, Kimberly Alexander (SR/Lebanon, Ind.) finished 16th with a total pin count of 896 in the two-day event. Alexander's best game came in the third round, bowling a 196.

Kylee Saunders (JR/Hixson, Tenn.) finished in 68th place, knocking down 665 pins in the event. Marissa Campbell (SR/Brighton, Mich.) rounded out the women in the top 100, placing 76th with a pin count of 617.

The Union men were led by a 27th place performance from Thomas Reinhardt (FR), who finished with a pin count of 941. Reinhardt's best performance came in the first game of competition, finishing with a 223.

Richard Scalzo (FR) followed behind Reinhardt in 40th, knocking down 894 total pins. Rounding out the Bulldog men, Jorge Jackson (JR/Paris, Ky.) placed 105th with a two-day total of 700 pins.

The Union men will return to action Oct. 17-18 as they travel to Dayton, Ohio for the UPike Orange & Black Classic.  The Union women will be back in action Oct. 24-25 in the Boilermaker Classic in Lafayette, Ind.
