BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - Union College women's bowling head coach Brandy Hensley has announced that Ashley Vires has signed her National Letter of Intent, and plans to join the Bulldog program in time for the start of the Fall 2016 semester.

Vires, a native of Lexington, Ky., will enter the program off a prep career at Henry Clay High School. She began her bowling career as a sophomore at Henry Clay in 2013.

"I am very excited to add Ashley to our program for next season. Even though she has only been competing for a short amount of time, she has already accomplished several impressive feats," Hensley said. "She is a rare natural talent and I believe she will help take our team to the next level in the upcoming years."

In 2015, Vires finished fourth in the Kentucky High School State Tournament with a 715 series. She also finished third overall in all events in the tournament with a score of 2,093. Vires bowled the highest girls game at the 2015 Kentucky Youth Open, finishing with a 263.

The daughter of Bethany Hungate, Ashley is undecided on her major at Union upon arrival next fall.

Union is a member of the Mid-South Conference for bowling.
