BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - The Union College men's bowling team went on a miraculous run as the number-six seed in the 2015 Mid-South Tournament on Saturday at Southern Lanes, finishing runners-up in the competition.

Things began for the Bulldogs in the first round, where they came back from a 3-2 deficit against Bethel (Tenn.) to move on to the winners bracket in a 4-3 victory, winning the seventh game by just two pins (223-221). Next up against seventh-seeded Lindsey Wilson (Ky.), Union won in six games, taking three in a row after falling behind 2-1.

Following the LWC win, the Bulldogs suffered a set-back in the winners bracket finale to Pikeville (Ky.), losing 4-0 to be sent to the consolation bracket. But there, the Bulldogs knocked off Bethel in six games to send Union to the championship match against Pikeville in which they would have to win twice to take the Mid-South Title.

In the championship match, Union made things very interesting after sweeping Pikeville 4-0, sending things to a decisive winner-take-all championship contest. However, Pikeville captured the game in five, winning three straight after Union knotted it up at 1-1, ending the Bulldogs' great run in the tournament in the process.

Meanwhile on the women's side, the Bulldogs had just as impressive of a showing, finishing third.

After dropping their opening match in six game to St. Catharine (Ky.), Union rolled through the consolation bracket, besting Cumberland (Tenn.) in four games, Cumberlands (Ky.) in five, and St. Catharine in seven to advance to the consolation bracket final.

But, there, the Bulldogs lost to Campbellsville (Ky.) in five games, ending their run. Pikeville also captured the MSC Championship on the women's side, as well.
