BARBOURVILLE, Ky. - The Union College men's and women's bowling teams opened the 2015 portion of their schedule this past weekend, and faired well at both the Bulldog Classic (hosted by the program in Richmond, Kentucky) and the Thomas Burris Memorial Classic in Lexington. 

First on Saturday at the Bulldog Classic, both the men's team and women's team placed sixth overall in their ends of the competition.

Individually for the men, Tyler Barnett (FR) had the best showing on the day, finishing 16th with a total pin count of 963 (233 being his highest score). Raymond Repaci (FR) finished 19th overall, ending the day with 924 total pins (225 being his high score), while Brian Jones rounded out the top finishers on the day placing 33rd (875 total pins). 

On the women's side, Katelynn George (JR/Crowley, Texas) had the highest finish on the day for Union, placing 34th with 831 total pins. Andrea Claypool (FR) was 48th overall with a 693 pin total, while Kendall Lane (FR) was 51st with 646 total pins.

Sunday at the Burris Memorial, the men's team had a strong showing, placing fourth overall with a total pin count of 6793.

Michael Davenport (FR/Delaware, Ohio ) led the way for the Bulldogs in the event, finishing 19th with a 961 total pin count. Finishing just behind Davenport was Jonathan Courtney (SR/Georgetown, Ky.) at 955 pins. Courtney's best performance came in his first game of the day, in which he rolled a 218. Joey Davenport (SR/Delaware, Ohio) rounded out the group of top finishers on the day for the men's team, placing 52nd overall.

For the women, the Bulldogs finished seventh in the competition, and we led by Kimberly Alexander (JR/Lebanon, Ind.), who finished 19th overall with a total pin count of 914 (226 was her best game of the day). Sabrina Yearling (FR) was 24th in the overall standings at 880 total pins, while Claypool rounded out the top finishers with a 50th place showing (679 total pins).

The Union College men's and women's bowling teams return to action on February 6th and 7th, when they take part in the 2015 Mid-South Conference Championships in Louisville, Kentucky.
