CLEVELAND, Ga. - No. 19 Union scored a pair of runs late, but it was not enough as host Truett-McConnell (Ga.) pulled out the 3-2 Appalachian Athletic Conference decision on Monday.

The loss drops Union to 24-10 overall and 10-5 in league play. Truett-McConnell ups its record to 9-25 overall and 4-11 in the AAC.

The Bears scored two in the first and tacked on another run in the seventh for a 3-0 lead.

Union finally got on the board in the eighth when Lance Anderson singled in Justin Elder (JR/Seven Mile, Ohio), making it 3-1. In the ninth, Union loaded the bases with two outs, and Anderson singled in another run to cut the deficit to 3-2. But the rally ended there as reliever Chris Carden got the next batter to groundout.

Anderson led the team offensively in going 2-for-5 with two driven in. 

The Bulldogs were outhit 9-5.

Union will travel to Campbellsville on Wednesday for a single, nine-inning game. First pitch is set for 6 p.m.
